Xandria Unique

Shy-Fierce is being replaced by my new blog Xandria Unique. The reason for this is because, I am growing out of my shyness and the name is now a little ill-fitting. Sorry for the confusion but the new blog is www.alexandriaunique.blogspot.com, Expect a post within fourteen days.

Self Discovery: Not a Stitch of Black

I’ve been asking myself a lot of questions lately. Who am I? What’s my real style? What kind of career do I really want? I feel that at 20 I should already have an idea of who I am. After a weeklong of questioning myself I figured that I should just be myself and not what I think I should be. I’ve learned that yes, family think they know what’s best for me. But, at the end of the day I need some time for self-discovery. So expect for the next two months that my posts are going to be tales of an adventurous week I partook in.

As for the outfit, it is one of the first of my self-discovery adventures. First off, I’m not wearing a stitch of black. That’s something I rarely do. All in all, I think this one was a bust. I love wearing black and maybe I could take a day or two away from black, but permanently … I don’t think so.

Rompers and Ankle Boots

If you haven’t guessed yet, I am totally obsessed with Forever 21. I have to say that maybe a good 50% of my closet is filled with their products. So I’m doing what I call “Rock the Romp”. This romper is from forever 21. I am well aware that I need to take a trip to the barber shop. **Said with much sarcasm** The perks of having fast growing hair when you really want to keep it shaved.

Polka Dot Thickness

I signed my name on that DOTTED line, with THICKNESS not SHYNESS.

When I looked in the mirror that morning, I had a moment of shyness where I almost ran for a cardigan. An extra-long bulky cardigan, but of course I put my big girl panties on and sucked it up, walked out that door with my head held up high.
The dress is a peplum from forever 21 plus. The earrings and necklace are my hand made creations.

 Score: Courtney-100,000,000. Shyness-0.

Courtney V.S. Ankles

My ankles HATE me right now, but they forgave me when I put on the BACKUP FLATS.

At 5 1/2 inches, I admit the shoes are pretty high (emphasis on the pretty). But, of course I had a nice pair of comfy flats for backup. So in total, I only had the wedges on for about three to four hours. Whenever I sat down I slipped them off and when it got too much I slipped on my backup pair. After all ,isn’t these shoes only for show? Do people actually keep them on all day? If so, do they hurt? If not, how in the world do you do it?! Tell. Me. Your. Secret.

This has to be my all-time favorite hat to wear so when the weather is about a cool 70o or 80o (which is rare in the state of New York's humidity) I wear it. Trust me, you will see this hat in quite a few posts. I know I kind of totally based this post on the shoes, but believe it or not, I based this whole outfit off of the pants. The shirt came in when I figured that I was wearing way to much black so I wore my black and white striped shirt and white bag. The bracelets where made by me!

Don’t worry, the relationship between my ankles and I is still going strong. LOL!

Skirt 'N Chucks

Don’t mess with a girl’s CHUCKS and don’t tell a THICK girl she can’t wear a short SKIRT.
The nerve of some people. Not everyone is a size 2, nor do everyone aspires to be a size 2. Some people need to realize that, but who cares what they think. I’m a thick girl, yes I know and there is not anyone in this world that can tell me how I should dress. Thought I should just say that.
Anyways, this shirt is about two years old, I originally bought it at H&M. What I liked about this shirt was the yin and yang up against a dark grey background.  Usually when I see a yin and yang shirt the background is usually black or white, so to see such a grungy-grey as the background it was a little refreshing. The skirt was a last minute, “OMG I need to leave like now” moment. I haven’t wore this clutch (originally from Aldo) in a long time and all day I kept thinking about the song “Reunited”. You know that song, “Reunited and it feels so good”. Lol. Of course I wore my chucks (converses).
What else would I wear with a skirt?

Roar!!!

This kitty don't MEOW, she ROARS
Ever notice that the shyest person is always the one person that ends up having the loudest mouth and the craziest things to say? Well that’s me once I drop my walls and kick back. Depending on the situation, that happens fairly quickly. Which brings me to my point, at work my presence was known and I made sure of that. Not only my pants, edgy haircut, or my statement necklace played a part in it but, I had personality both visually and verbally. I meant business. I had to take it down a notch so I wore my black wedges and sleeveless-button-down shirt with three simple bangles. The oversized cardigan was a key item to battle New York’s crazy, kooky weather.
I AM COURTNEY, HEAR ME ROOOOOOAR!!!!!!!

Neon Spikes

Look at my POP of color.
In NYC, it has reached 84o! After the horrible winter, I thought it couldn't be possible, but my skepticism has been proven wrong. All this ranting about warm weather and I still wear a hat. A neon green one with spikes that actually makes me stick out more than my shaved head. I will continue to wear hats until I find the time to get my hair done. (So no judging please.) I've been really busy with term papers and finals, but as I promised before I will post more. I hate breaking promises.

I wanted to go simple with my dress and cardigan because the hat and spikes are so BOLD. The three-in-a-row spike bracelet and earrings are all stuff I made. Both of my single row spike bracelets was a gift from my mom and the watch was a gift from my grandmother.
I sit here in spikes (I Don't Bite, I Promise)…

Rebel Flag

Waving the flag, the REBEL flag.
At first, I was so fearful of wearing these bold leggings. Now as I look at these photos, I am so happy I put the shyness away to wear them! Though, it is time to update my converses. (They are falling apart from the six years of wear and tear!)
The shirt is a little bit see through and I just went with a really pretty bra underneath.

Peek-A-Boo! I see my underwire!!!!!

Errand Run

“I swear, I will post more…”

Living in New York City has its perks, but this winter had me rethinking those perks! I suffered with cabin fever all winter long, so now that it’s warming up I’m ecstatic!

I’ve always wanted a pair of animal print shoes, and now I am a proud owner. Overall I think this look was perfect for running errands, or in my case, running home to finish off my essays for my classes.

NOTE: I don’t think the professors got the memo that it was spring break! L
